Mama Z's in Tontitown

Went to lunch this last weekend at Mama Z's Cafe 357 West Henri De Tonti BlvdTontitown, AR 72770. This is the very first time I have eaten there. Now this place is known for their Italian Food. Maybe thats where I went wrong ? Could be. Upon arrival I noticed the place was packed. Good sign. I was then seated in a bad place. Although there were other tables, I was seated at the table closest to the hallway which leads to the restrooms. (not good) When someong did need to use the restroom, because of over crowding of table placement, as they tried to walk by the table I was seated at, they had to turn sideways to get by, thus brushing their body up against my table. Upon opening the Menu, I noticed that the prices of their Italian Dinners were comparable or even higher than that of a well known Italian major chain restaurant. Now this might be where I went wrong. I ordered the cheapest thing on the Menu. Why ? because they say to truly test a restaurant, "if the cheapest thing on the menu is good, you can't go wrong with the most expensive". What I ordered was the Hamburger meal. Now the fresh cut homemade french fries were very good. The hamburger bun was fresh. The Hamburger Pattie was fresh. All of these individually tasted good. But when all put together, it seemed to have no taste. Just plain, too plain. But that is probably my own fault since I did not order one of their signature Italian dishes. However the service was very good. But the Menu a little pricey for the type of restaurant, atmosphere, and overcrowding of tables being too close together. I will return to Mama Z's. I will order a signature Italian dinner which they are supposedly famous for, and I will let you know. Taking all of the above into consideration,
Rating = Not So Much

You should go back and order the Parmesan chicken. We just moved to the Rogers area last year and Mama Z's is the only food I crave around here. We went to Olive Garden the other night since it just opened not long ago and I was so disappointed. It doesn't touch Mama Z's when it comes to pasta or chicken... Mama Z's pasta is so fresh and scrumptious. I like the salad that comes with the entrees as well. I have ordered the burger there and I'm not a fan of it either. Onion rings are good, though.

I must say you aren't much of a critic if you go to an Italian Restaurant and you don't order Italian food! They have fresh pasta and fresh sauce. I have not lived in NW Arkansas for 6 years and it is still as good now as it was when I left. Everytime I am home I have to make a visit. You must go back.

My wife and I are from Northwest Arkansas. We've tried virtually all restaurants in this area, including Olive Garden, and Mama Z's is the best we've found. Although crowded most of the time, the service is fast and the food is wonderful, especially the lasagna and the chicken. Prices are on a par with other places, so the service and quality make the difference. We'll go there for Italian anytime we can!

I've always found the food to be good and the portions are generous for the price. The food does not have that warmed up in the microwave flavor like Olive Garden. The men's room needs a mirror over the sink though.
